So you've got arthritis, what now? How do you get the most from living with arthritis and getting on with life?

During this workshop for Joint Potential event we explore some of the issues you face as a young adult with arthritis and help you identify strategies to deal with them, giving you greater confidence.

What's it about?

This two-day residential workshop is for 10-12 people with arthritis aged 16-25, and will be led by our contact volunteers who are also young adults with arthritis. It will be informal and relaxed, a chance to meet people who really understand the issues and together help find ways to overcome them. We're holding this workshop in either Perth or Dundee (tbc); it starts on Friday evening with a chance to get to know each other, and will finish at Sunday lunchtime.

The content includes:

  • identifying the problems arthritis causes in your life
  • exploring ways to solve these problems
  • thinking positively about yourself
  • learning how to be assertive about what you need
  • setting goals to help your independence

At the end you'll have a clearer idea of what you need and how to get it; possible solutions for problem areas; gained ideas for personal development; and you'll feel more confident and comfortable with who you are and what you can achieve.

What will it cost me?

Nothing! The course is free so it won't cost you anything.

If it’s free, how do I know it’s any good?

Joint Potential is new in Scotland but we know these events are great because we've run them many times elsewhere in the UK; the people who've been tell us they’ve enjoyed themselves and feel more confident about their condition. And we don’t leave you high and dry afterwards - we keep in touch so you still have some support available once the workshop is over.

I want to come along - what do I do?
