This course is not about arthritis but about YOU and how to get more from your life. 'Moving up and Moving on' considers what it is to become 'adult' and when and how we grow up. By thinking about how we deal with change we'll become better equipped to take on the future challenges life holds...

What's it about?

Moving up and moving on is for 10-12 people with arthritis aged 16-25, and will be led by our contact volunteers who are also young adults with arthritis - so everyone taking part will know the issues you face in everyday life. It's residential, and will be in a hotel. We'll start on Friday evening with a chance to get to know each other, and finish at Sunday lunch - if you have to travel a long way, and can't make it for early evening, get in touch.

Over the weekend, we'll look at the following:

  •     how and when we 'grow up'
  •     using our life experiences in a positive way
  •     coping with - or resisting - change...
  •     how we can become desensitised to difficult situations

We also look at the future, setting goals so that we have a clearer view of what we want to achieve. There will be a group outing too (possibly bowling), so it's not all talk... By the end you'll be better equipped to deal with change in a positive way and make the most of life.

What will it cost me?

The course is free, as it's been funded by two of Arthritis Care's local branches, and we'll pay your travel expenses, so it doesn't cost you anything.

If it’s free, how do I know it’s any good?

Joint Potential is new in Scotland but we know these events are great because we've run them many times elsewhere in the UK; the people who've been tell us they’ve enjoyed themselves and feel more confident about their condition. And we'll keep in touch so you still have some support available once the workshop is over.

I want to come along - what do I do?

If you'd like to come along, let us know as soon as you can as places are limited. Use our form to request a place, call us on 0141 954 7776 or email Info@JointPotential.org.uk
