Belinda with her mobile Groomability van

Belinda Lloyd, aged 19, from Cambridgeshire was diagnosed with juvenile ideopathic arthritis (JIA) when just a toddler.

She grew up with arthritis but with the support of her family has led a full and active life, leading to her setting up her own business – Groomability - a dog grooming company, which comes to your doorstep.

Belinda set up the canine company with the help of her father, Martin. 'It’s very much down to Belinda and it is her company, I just help where I can and sometimes help to drive the van if Belinda’s arthritis is really playing up.' says dad, Martin.

'Not many people know that you can have arthritis at any age, literally from birth, as I did. It is a constant challenge and the pain can be awful for me and many others. I wanted to do something where I could help and support other young people with arthritis, by showing them you can achieve whatever you want.' says Belinda

Groomability gives a donation to Arthritis Care every time a dog is groomed and operates around the Cambridgeshire area and beyond. The service includes a state of the art K9 hydro-bath.

'Belinda is a brilliant example of how anyone with arthritis can take control of their life and condition. Belinda has had great support from her father and family and it is down to this hard work that Groomability can support our work in Cambridgeshire.' stated Margo Basri, area development manager. 'In May 2012, for the second year running, Belinda presented us with a cheque for over £250. The funds will be used to support the work of our information voluneer in the county' she added.
