Our website is designed to be easy-to-use and accessible.
To ensure that this is the case, we consulted people with arthritis at all stages in the design and developing the content of the website.
Our website has been designed and built to meet the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Web Content Accessibility 'AA' guidelines. http://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/wcag
We endeavour to keep to the following principles:
- clear and simple language that can be easily understood, avoiding the use of jargon and explaining any technical terms
- plain page backgrounds to enable the text to be read easily
- a colour contrast that enable people with colour blindness to distinguish between different types of content
- manageable chunks of information on short pages, with the key points summarised in the first paragraph and the use of bullet points to break up the text
- headings to structure the text and make it easier to follow
- images with descriptive titles and/or additional written detail
- easy-to-follow links that clearly identify the page the link goes to
